Established between the year 1903 and 1910 and rated as an encyclopedic museum that covers the entire western culture from it's beginning to the present day, the Art and History Museum comprises of fine arts, including 400 paintings from the Renaissance period to contemporary times, sculptures by artists like Pradier, Houdon, Arp, Rodin, Tinguely, Giacometti.
There is also archaeology and art relics from the middle ages right upto the 20th century, including textiles, furniture, pewterware, weapons and armour and a 15th century altarpiece made by Konrad Witz, "The Miraculous Draught of Fish" and the original stained glass from Saint Peter’s Cathedral are among many other great displays in the Art and History Museum.
