Geneva is host to several world famous organizations, the World Trade Organization is an association consented to oversee and free up trade and industry, the World Trade Organization was formerly known as the GATT or the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade.

The World Trade Organization was established on January 01 1995 and is a descendant of GATT, which was formed in back in 1948 and ran for approximately five decades as a de facto global association. The World Trade Organization is ruled by a Ministerial Conference which convenes once every two years, a general council applies the policy choices and is accountable for everyday management, the director-general is chosen by the Ministerial Conference.
